ROLE PURPOSE:

The MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) Coordinator is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and oversight of MEAL systems across programs/projects. The role ensures that data collection, analysis, reporting, and learning processes are timely, accurate, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making. The MEAL Coordinator promotes accountability to beneficiaries, strengthens organizational learning, and supports program quality and effectiveness in line with donor and organizational standards.

Key Areas of Accountability

1. MEAL System Design & Implementation

Develop and implement MEAL frameworks, tools, and guidelines for all programs.

Ensure that monitoring and evaluation systems are aligned with program objectives, donor requirements, and organizational standards.

Support staff in adopting MEAL procedures and best practices.

2. Data Management & Analysis

Oversee timely, accurate, and ethical collection, entry, and storage of program data.

Conduct analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to assess program performance, outcomes, and impact.

Provide actionable recommendations based on data to improve program quality.

3. Reporting & Accountability

Prepare high-quality internal and donor reports, dashboards, and presentations.

Ensure programs are accountable to beneficiaries, including feedback mechanisms and complaint handling.

Promote transparency and ethical data management, ensuring confidentiality where required.

4. Learning & Capacity Building

Promote organizational learning through regular reflection, evaluations, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Build the capacity of program staff on MEAL concepts, tools, and processes.

Conduct assessments, surveys, and evaluations to support program design and expansion.

5. Coordination & Representation

Represent the organization in MEAL, evaluation, and accountability forums with partners, clusters, and donors.

Collaborate with other departments and program teams to ensure MEAL integration and complementarity.

6. Team Leadership & Compliance

Ensure adherence to ethical standards, safeguarding, and organizational policies.

About You
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and above in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
Professional Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in MEAL, M&E, or a similar role within a humanitarian, development, or NGO context.
Experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems, tools, and frameworks for multi-sectoral programs.
Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting, including quantitative and qualitative methods.
Experience with donor reporting, evaluations, and assessments
Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, indicators, data management systems, and reporting standards.
Familiarity with accountability mechanisms, feedback systems, and learning processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, Kobo, or DHIS2) is an advantage.
Preferred Competencies:

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to train, mentor, and supervise staff on MEAL processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
Ability to work under pressure in complex humanitarian contexts and manage multiple priorities.
Commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and accountability.
Mandatory: Fluency in written and spoken English
